People often become so focused on holiday shopping, baking, and decorating, that they ignore everything else, including their own well-being. Actually, this is the time of year when you should pay extra attention to your health, as all of these seasonal activities can really tax your body. For example, walking and standing for prolonged periods is not only bad for your feet, but it can also contribute to the development of varicose veins.
Remember, your veins already have to fight gravity and body weight, in order to carry blood back up to your heart. However, their job can get even more difficult if their valves malfunction, which is likely to occur if you don’t stop and put your feet up once in awhile. When this happens, blood can leak back down and pool inside your veins.
So, you see, all of that rushing around can be detrimental; and it simply doesn’t make sense to sacrifice your health for the sake of finding the perfect present for someone. After all, to your friends and family, just having you, physically fit, is the only gift that truly matters.
